Day 4 of the Commonwealth Games wrap-up: Abdul Wahib Omar advances to the quarterfinals despite Ghana's hockey teams being thrashed
The Black Bombers appear poised to carry on their chase of a medal after a boxing team member failed a drug test on day two of the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham after Abdul Wahib Omar qualified for the quarterfinal.
After a severe loss on the fourth day, the hockey team is still having trouble in the games.
Here is a summary of Ghana’s Day 4 performance.
Wahib Omar delivered one of the best boxing performances of the Olympics, defeating Fijian Elia Robobuli in the light welterweight division without a hitch. He moves on to the quarterfinal round of his event as a result.
India defeats Ghana 11-0 in the men’s hockey match. The Asian giants found it so simple that they completely changed their team, including the goalie.
In their first game, the Black Sticks lost 0-6 to England.
With a 12-0 victory over Ghana in the women’s competition, England got their bid for a medal off to a strong start. Ghana is now last in the pool after giving up 17 goals in 2 games.
Abubakar Quartey, the captain of the Black Bombers, was defeated 3–2 by Nigerian Adeyinka Benson in the round of 16 middleweight matches. Quartey had a bye in the opening round, advancing her to this level.
The Games continue until August 8.
