Nigerian Women’s Affairs Minister Mrs Pauline Tallen has revealed reports from the children of the late singer Osinachi Nwachukwu that they witnessed their father repeatedly attacking their mother.
In an interview with NTA TV in Abuja on Wednesday, the minister explained that the truth emerged when she and her director visited the late singer’s children and husband.
“I spoke to my first son first. I asked him: ‘Do you love your mother? “he said yes. “Has your mom taught you to lie?” “he said yes. “I asked him if she was still alive and he said she was dead. I asked him “Do you know that she is your angel now and is looking at you now?” “He said ‘yes’. ‘Well, it would be sad if you lied’. Osinachi’s first son then started talking, the women’s affairs minister said.
Ms Pauline Tallen added that she had explained to him that all Nigerians, including the president, were mourning his mother and fearing her death.
The minister noted that the children revealed that their mother was not the only person in their family who was being abused.
The late singer’s sister said in an interview with Vanguard Nigeria at the time that Osinaki died from a blood clot in the chest after being kicked in the area by her husband Peter Nwachukwu.
However, the late gospel singer’s husband has denied involvement in the police investigation into her death.
Mr Nwachukwu told police that his wife had been ill since November 2021.
Meanwhile, Women Affairs Minister says despite his mother’s fame and stream of income from her Gospel ministries she was dependent on her husband financially.
She said per the late singer’s son’s account, this is because all the income went to her husband’s account and he decided how much money to give her as and when he liked, she explained.
The Minister said, “I was battling with tears when he finished.”
