The National Small-scale Industry Council (NBSSI) provided 50 young entrepreneurs in Bono with a start-up kit to promote their business development.

NBSSI’s Young Entrepreneur and Employment Program (YEEP) provided support for it, which, in cooperation with the Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Project, created substantial and dignified jobs for young people in Ghana.

The project includes three main interventions: Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ICE), Entrepreneur Apprenticeship (A2E) and Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Business Acceleration (MBA).

Mr. Anthony Akolbire, NBSSI manager of NBSSI Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions, stated in the Sunyani plan that the beneficiaries have successfully received training in hairdressing, baking and confectionery, sewing and welding under the project A2E. They started their own business.

He explained that the beneficiaries were selected from the municipalities of Dormaa, Berekum, Wenchi, Sunyani and Sunyani West, including 13 men and 37 women, aged between 18 and 35.

Mr. Akolbire said: “NBSSI is committed to helping more women in Ghana” and therefore encourages beneficiaries to make full use of these items.

He suggested that they visit the business consulting center whenever they encounter work challenges.

Sunyani City Administrator (MCE) Ms. Justina Owusu-Banahene said that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is committed to providing decent, dignified and sustainable jobs to Ghana’s youth to reduce the country’s Unemployment rate.

She expressed her gratitude to the leaders of NBSSI and the Mastercard Foundation for the implementation of the project, and recommended that the beneficiaries take good care of these items and encourage them to learn more skills and industries to withstand the fiercely competitive business world.
