Akyem Mafia And Sakawa Boys Tag: John Mahama Owes No One An Apology – Aide
James Agyenim Boateng, Spokesperson, NDC Campaign Team says his boss does not owe anyone an apology for the alleged ethnocentric post he re-echoed in relation to the Agyapa deal.
He said the fact is his post does not attack any group of people.
According to him, the former President was only re-echoing a statement made by the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central and did not intentionally seek to run down a group of persons.
Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia program, he explained that the former President has not spoken against anybody.
“For me, I believe that it is just a group of some NPP members who want to score cheap political points from this issue.”
“The policy issues in our manifesto which was released last Monday has dazed the NPP and they just want to drive attention from the serious issue we have raised.
“John Dramani Mahama owes no one an apology, they can do what pleases them,” he said.
He said the NPP government should come out to discuss policy-based issues, and not these flimsy activities that won’t provide any tangible solution to the hardships Ghanaians are enduring.
A group calling itself, Concerned Citizens of Okyeman and Okyeman Youth, took to the streets on Wednesday in Asamankese in the Eastern Region to demonstrate against former President John Mahama and National Democratic Congress (NDC) for allegedly describing them as ‘Akyem Sakawa Mafias’.
The group is demanding a retraction and an apology from the NDC flagbearer.
The demonstration follows claims by President Akufo-Addo that his predecessor, John Mahama had endorsed a post by MP for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo describing people in his government as ‘Akyem Sakawa Mafias’ who are looting the state.
President Akufo-Addo at a meeting with the Catholic Bishops’ conference expressed worry about the ethnocentric comments and called on the former President to apologize for the comment.
